Congrats!

Congratulations Taryn! How interesting how this all connected. I hope I can celebrate with you in a couple more years :) I don't have a lot of news from down here...just been enjoying the good weather we have been having. Soon, I should have sometime to do more than just study in it. I have an exam tomorrow and another on Monday...then a nice little break. I also have a little request. I need some pictures of me, they can be posed or snapshots, so if any of you have some that you could email me or post or something, I would really appreciate it (they can be of me and someone else). Well, I need to get back to studying, but I wanted to say hello. Love you all!

Happy Doctor's Day To Me!

So guess what? March 30th is Doctors Day! I had no idea until I got to work and we get to eat an m&m carvel ice cream cake! I decided to do some research so I of course went to the Hallmark website and found out the following:

The first Doctors’ Day observance was March 30, 1933, in Winder, Ga. The idea came from Eudora Brown Almond, wife of Dr. Cha Almond, and the date was the anniversary of the first use of general anesthetic in surgery. (On March 30, 1842, Dr. Crawford Long of Barrow County, Ga., used ether to remove a tumor from a patient’s neck.)The Barrow County Medical Society Auxiliary proclaimed the day “Doctors’ Day,” which was celebrated by mailing cards to physicians and their wives, and placing flowers on the graves of deceased doctors, including Dr. Long. The United States House of Representatives adopted a resolution commemorating Doctors’ Day on March 30, 1958. In 1990, legislation was introduced into the United States House of Representatives and United States Senate to establish a National Doctors Day. Following overwhelming approval by the House and Senate, then-President George Bush signed a resolution designating March 30 as National Doctors’ Day. The first National Doctors’ Day was celebrated in 1991.

I thought it was pretty cool that it was invented in Winder!

So it's my first Doctors Day, I don't know if I'll get to celebrate it again!

Yup, we're still alive

Hello everyone!
Todd and I have been pretty busy over the last few weeks. Last week we went to Scottsdale, AZ for our friend Mike's wedding- you may remember him as one of the readers at our wedding. He has been pretty sick over the last few months, but he was still able to celebrate with all of us. A ton of our friends from Cornell came so it was really fun. The weather was great (75 and sunny- a welcome change from here!) We got to make a quick stop at Sedona to see the beautiful red rocks, and Todd was happy we got to see a Giants spring training game in Scottsdale.

Yesterday I hosted Fran's baby shower. She is due in the beginning of April but her doctor thinks she may be early! She is still as tiny as ever but with a big bowling ball in front. We had a really nice time with all of our high school girlfriends, we had a lunch at Hobbit Hollow (an inn in Skaneateles).

Pixie is doing great, we had a pug play date with Marisa Craybas's pug Lola, who is a cutie too! Pixie was so happy to have a friend to play with. We need to find her more friends around here!

I'm also really busy at work and starting to interview for positions for next year. I'm looking forward to getting settled.

That's about it from here- Todd is downstairs cooking chili and watching some kind of sporting event. Tonight the Sopranos are finally back on HBO so we'll be eating Italian food and watching TV. Hope you are all well!

A long overdue hello!

Hello everyone! I haven't heard from you all in a while. I have been on spring break all week, which has been awesome. It is so nice, not having to study. Too bad classes start again on Monday. I spent the first few days of my week with the orthopedics department down here at school, including time in the clinics and OR. On Wednesday, I was in the OR and was 2nd assist on the surgery! It was so much fun...I got to scrub in, help hold various parts, cut stitches, etc. My first OR assist :) It was definitely real, as I was splattered with blood...even onto my mask. The last few days of break, I have decided to do absolutley nothing...just been watching TV, cooking, sleeping, and painting my bed. I ran out of paint though, so I probably won't be able to finish it quite yet.

A few weeks ago we had a dinner at church, and this is a picture from it. Its just of me and a couple of friends.

How are the rest of you doing? How was Phoenix? How are Gabe, Pixie, and Megan? Any new or exciting news, pictures or stories? I hope that things are going well for everyone, and that we'll see each other soon. Mom and Dad are coming down next weekend to visit for my white coat ceremony, but the rest of you are welcome to come too! I'd love to have you. I guess I don't really have any other news...just getting ready for classes to start again. Send some pictures when you get a chance (or post them). Love you all!

Love,
Me
